LaLiga: Neymar set to overtake Messi as Barcelona's top earner as contract details emerge

The eye-water details of Neymar's new deal have come to light and he looks likely to become Barca's best-paid player.

Neymar looks set to become Barcelona's highest earner when he signs his new contract at the Nou Camp on Friday, surpassing the pay packet taken home by five-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.
Marca report that the €25m which the Brazilian stands to be paid each season by the Catalan giants is thought to be broken down into €15m of guaranteed money and €10m of performance-related bonuses, putting him a step above Messi's €22m basic wage.
The 24-year-old will officially sign his new long-term five-year contract at Camp Nou on Friday, securing his future at the club until 2021.  The club had initially announced that the deal had been 'signed' back in July, but it seems that while the terms were agreed, the Olympic gold medalist never actually put pen to paper.
Barça also confirmed back in the summer that the contract would have release clause which would initially be set at €200m, rising to €222m in the second year of the contract and then increasing to €250m thereafter for the remainder of the deal.

The Messi comparison is far from as straightforward as it appears though - as is so often the case with the contracts of high-flying superstars like the Barcelona pair.

[CONTRACT NEWS] @neymarjr will sign new contract on Friday that will keep him at the Club until June 2021
While the Argentine stands to make less of a basic wage from the club from week to week, various bonuses and image rights topping up the megastar's bank account (as if he needed it).
Messi is also expected to sign a new contract at some point before the new year, which should put him back at the top of the club's earnings list.
